I am planning a 50th wedding anniversary on February 5th for my parents myself. I have a full time job but am hired by people to party plan and carry out parties of all kind. Sometimes I have found that renting the place, renting stem ware, silver, tablecloths, chafing dishes, etc., along with fresh flowers, plants and so forth can get very costly along with all the leg work involved. This is not always the best way to go. One place I found that was nice was $500 just to rent it for the evening. That did not include food, drinks, rental prices. I decided this time to reduce all the renting and running around and for less dollars went to a local restaurent. This particular restaurant has a beautiful room with large leaded glass windows, a staffed wet bar (which everyone buys their own liquor, except for wine that will be provided on the tables) beautifully set up tables and a dance floor. They are arranging the tables the way I would like, making it more spacious, putting a table by the door for gifts and a table by the dance floor for the wedding cake. No leg work and no clean up. The wedding cake will be delivered and the restaurant will show them where to set up and the flowers will be delivered. All I have to do is show up and greet guests and hide from my mother before she cuts my throat.
The cost? Flowers, including bouquet for my mother since they are going to renew vows, 3 tier wedding cake, 55 guests approximately $1,100 dollars.

If you decide to go with renting a place I can help you out with some ideas on menu, renting what is necessary, and ideas on how to carry off while watching you budget let me know. I'll send you some ideas.
