baby girl shower invitations
Send a personalized baby shower invitation that will get everyone excited. There are many styles to choose from, but we recommend something pink (of course). A fun touch is to spray just a little baby powder scent perfume on the inside of the envelope (you can find "Baby Soft" at any drug store), and your guests will love the new baby smell when the open the invites!

If you want to go all out for you mother-to-be consider having a custom caricature of her drawn! Not only can you use it for invitations, but signage, seating cards and favors too!

You can always make your own invitations for this "Sugar and Spice" baby shower. A pink motif is a must. Add some fun wording to convey the theme of the shower -

Invitations should be sent out about 4 weeks before the shower. Work with the mom to be to define the guest list and pick a date that works for her. The hostess should set a budget and pick a location, both of which will affect the guest list.

Baby Girl Shower Decorations and Party Supplies
Whether you are having the baby shower at home or in a hall, decorate the room in shades of pink. You can start off by welcoming everyone with a personalized baby shower banner. You can highlight the entrance with a few pink balloon bouquets as well.

I love it when baby showers have a table that displays baby photos of the mom and dad to be. This is a great place for a life-sized cutout of the mommy-to-be as well. It is also a nice place to set out a photo of the couple in a frame with large matting. Have guests leave a message for the new family with with a personalized baby shower pen, which guests can take home as a cute and practical party favor!

We always recommend balloons for baby showers; they are economical, they make a big impact, and there are some really cute designs available for baby showers! Make bunches of pink (and maybe white) latex balloons. Add a fun Mylar balloon to each bunch; here are our favorites -

An easy trick to making balloon bouquets that look great is to always group balloons in odd numbers, which are more pleasing to the eye. You can get some cute baby shoes as balloon weights for the balloons bouquets too. Another fun idea is to buy small pink baby toys and stuffed animals and use those as balloon weights. You can give them to the mom-to-be as a gift at the end of the party.

Here are a few more quick and classic decorating ideas for your baby shower -

  • Baby bibs make great placemats and mom and baby will find the useful after the party!
  • Baby bottle with the tops remove are cute glasses. Include a pink straw for easy sipping.
  • Stuffed animals for the baby are fun room decorations. Decorate them with pink bows.

Just stick with your pink theme and everything will look great together!

Baby Girl Shower Table Decorations and Menu
Your tables will be a major focus in the room, so make sure they look great. White and pink linens are perfect if your venue will provide them. White table covers with pink paper goods are fun for a less formal party.

Additional balloon bouquets or stuffed animals are perfect centerpieces. Pink carnations and baby's breath in vases on the table are fun too. For a more modern look use low containers and put a single type of flower in each. Group the vases in odd numbers depending on your table sizes.

The food that you serve at a baby shower depends on the time of day you are having the party.

  • Brunch - Serve fruit salad, muffins, bagels, a breakfast casserole or two, along with orange juice, and coffee. You can dress if up a bit with a crepe station (contact a local caterer) and mimosas!
  • Lunch - Serve finger sandwiches, crudités, and potato and macaroni salads. Set out two punches, one alcoholic and one for those who chose not to drinks.
  • Mid-Afternoon - People will not be expecting a meal, so serve hors d'oeuvres, mini desserts and drinks. Martinis are sure to be a hit!
  • Dinner - Since this is a mealtime you should definitely have some heavier food. Anything that feeds a crowd will work. Wine is appropriate for an evening shower.

For dessert you can go with an array of pastries, a sheet cake, or (my favorite) cupcakes. You can even use cupcakes as place cards by attaching a paper banner to a toothpick. Write the name of a guest on it and stick it into the cupcake. Now it's a "sweet" seating card.

One final and fun decoration you can make are Napkin Diapers. Take a pink napkin and fold it in half to make a triangle. Bring the bottom point of the triangle up to the fold. bring in each of the side points to the middle of the "diaper". Secure with a small safety pin. Place one Napkin Diaper at each place setting.

Baby Girl Shower Games and Activities
One of the main activities at a baby shower is watching the guest of honor open all of the cute baby gifts! When she opens her gifts, make sure someone is writing down who gave what. A family member is usually a better choice than a friend for this job because they are familiar with many of the guests. Also, be ready with a trash bag for all of the paper!

Many baby showers offer games for the guests to play. Here are a few printable games that you can leave on the tables for guests to amuse themselves with -

We also have a huge list of baby shower games that you can play throughout the party on our Baby Shower Games page.

If you want a more structured activity you can buy a bunch of plain bibs and onesies and have guests decorate them with fabric paint and fabric markers. Do this at the beginning of the shower and hang the creations on a clothing line to dry.

Baby Girl Shower Party Favors
Send everyone home with their personalized baby shower pens. Here are some other ideas for fun party favors:

You can also make your own party favors. Why not give a small bottle of cinnamon sugar (sugar and spice, right?) with a tag that says "Thanks for showering Mommy Jane and Baby Lilly with your love".

Your mommy to be will have a wonderful time at her beautiful baby shower. She will always remember the special celebration that you put so much thought and love into!
