Golf Outing Ideas

Looking for the perfect summer day? The perfect corporate event? Combine a golf outing...plus a cook out! The afternoon is devoted to a friendly golf tournament, then everyone goes back to the house, or stays on the course for a cookout.  You can't go wrong with these golf outing ideas!

Golf Outing Invitations

Start this golf outing off right with a great invitation. There are plenty of fun options. We love this personalized golf invitation since it has a matching banner and favors like a candy bar wrapper and water bottle label. The "On the Green" and the "Nine Holes" invitations are great too!

If you want something that really features the guest of honor or your company send an invite with their image or logo on it! Golf themed photo ticket invitations are very popular and a great way to build excitement in your event.  Remember, no ticket no entrance!

Another unique golf invitation is our Golf Semi-Custom Caricature. Add the guest of honor's face, or employee of the year's face, to the invite, or for a little more have a caricature face drawn and added to the invite. The guests will be wowed!

golf theme decorations and party supplies
You are not going to need many decoration during the golfings, all the atmosphere you need is on the course! There are definitely a few things you can do to make it more interesting.  Jimmy, one of the Party411 guys, always does a golf outing for his birthday which makes him our expert. He has a few great golf outing ideas -
"Start with the putting green. We play one of 3 games. The first is a mini-tournament to find the best putter. We set up a "course" on the putting green (3-6 holes). Lowest total putts wins the prize. The second game is a knockout tournament. Everyone putts and the one who ends up furthest from the hole is "knocked out". The last one standing wins. Finally we play this game for a fundraiser. You set up a long putt (at least 50 feet). Everybody makes a donation to get a chance. You can buy as many chances as you want. At the end of the day whoever ends up closest wins a nice prize donated by one of your sponsors. Make sure signs are posted to promote the event.

Next you go to the first tee. Have someone take a picture with each team. We usually have a life size cutout they can pose with to celebrate the event.

Have contests everyone can win. Sure you will have long drive and closest to the pin contests but those go to the best golfers usually. Why not have a shortest drive contest or a poker hand (make a poker hand out of 5 random holes. High scores have a better chance of winning).

At the turn have food ready to serve. If you let people pick there own food it will slow things down. Burgers always work but we've done giant hoagies that work well. Again post signs so people know where to go. Make sure somebody is in charge of keeping things moving."
Hear hear Jimmy! Since your friends and family are what make this party special, you can show your appreciation for them by giving everyone a favor on the first tee. Keep it simple with favors and golf outing ideas that are useful; a few tees, a golf ball, a bottle of water with a personalized bottle label (or even a personalized beer bottle). It can get pretty hot out there in the summer.

And, you know you can play golf at night, right?  You'll need (fantastic) light up golf balls and light up prizes.

There are some great golf theme decorations that can be used to decorate the party or even a golf cart:
  • Golf mylar balloons
  • Light up latex balloons

Golf outing Table Decorations and Menu

After golf, the guests should make their way back to your house to relive their rounds (usually shot by shot), eat some grilled food and play some horseshoes or bocce. Think simple and very plentiful when planning your menu. Feature them! You can't go wrong with hot dogs, brats, burgers and the like. Choose whatever your favorites are for a backyard cookout.

If this is a corporate golf outing have the course take care of the food. Make sure everyone knows where to go after they are done golfing. You don't want people wandering around and potentially leaving early!

You can tie in the golf theme with a few table decorations. Golf themed paper goods fit the theme to a "tee" and will look great under all that tasty food. Best part? No dishes to do!

Hang a personalized golf theme banner featuring a message about the guest of honor or the event.

If you want to do something really memorable, get a life-sized golfer cutout of the guest of honor (there is even an option of a more "traditional" golfer getup). Very fun for photos, people have a ball with these!

Golf outing Favors

Send everyone home with a fun favor to remember the day by. Give everyone a box of tees or a small sleeve of golf balls. Add a sticker with a personalized message - "Thanks for making Jimmy's 50th birthday a hole-in-one!"

We also like the following as party favors:

Everyone will have such a great time they will want you to make it an annual event, just like Jimmy's birthday party!
