Super Bowl Mardi Gras Bash

We here at Party411 think it's great that Super Bowl XLII weekend falls at the beginning of Mardi Gras in 2008!  Two of the most festive holidays of the year can now be celebrated with one big bash! Your guests will love this Mardi Gras Super Bowl party!

Mardi Gras Super Bowl Invitations

We have great Super Bowl invitations and Mardi Gras invitations.  Even better, we've got a personalized Mardi Gras Super Bowl Invitation from Creations For You!  What could be better?  To add to the excitement, I'd add football confetti to the envelope.

Or choose a football ticket invitation in purple or yellow to match the Mardi Gras colors. You get to use your own wording, and can order as few as 30.  So these are great for a Mardi Gras Super Bowl bash.

Mardi Gras Super Bowl Decorations

This is a great party because you can really mix Super Bowl Decorations and Mardi Gras Decorations!  Any combination will work as long as you've got a good mix of football and Mardi Gras.

I would start In the front yard with a 6' Mardi Gras Airblown Sign.  Surround it with inflatable 24" footballs.  Hang a Mardi Gras party banner at the door welcoming everyone to Mardi Gras and Super Bowl 2008!

Inside you're guests will LOVE a custom Mardi Gras Football player cutout with your face and a speech bubble welcoming them to Mardi Gras and Super Bowl.  Or get the photo op for your guests!

Nothing screams Mardi Gras more than beads, so greet your guests with football beads.  Purple and green tinsel maracas will help your guests cheer on their favorite team.

Alternate football lights and Mardi Gras lights on a string around the party or across a buffet table. 

Food

This is a casual party, so paper goods are perfect.  We've got Super Bowl XLII theme paper goods and Mardi Gras paper goods.  I personally love the Super Bowl paper goods. I'd use these for dinner and and use the Mardi Gras bead theme napkins and paper goods for appetizers and snacks.

Set the table with a grass field tablecover or a vinyl NFL tablecover.  Centerpieces can be Mardi Gras Jester hats with a lime green boa wrapped around the base.  You can put an inflatable football in the center of the hat, or have latex and Mylar balloons coming out of the center.  A local party store will be able to create a great bouquet in Mardi Gras colors with Mylar football balloons mixed in the bunch.

We know the Super Bowl is about food, so serve chips and snacks in purple or green felt top hats turned upside down.  Then give your food a Mardi Gras feel with Gumbo and other New Orleans style food.  For dessert, stick with the traditional Mardi Gras King Cake.  Serve it on a touchdown football platter with King Cake babies scattered around the platter.

Mardi Gras Super Bowl Activities

It is Mardi Gras, so make your guests work for their Mardi Gras Beads!  Have Super Bowl betting contests and give out beads.  You can have a variety of difficulty levels and offer Mardi Gras metallic beads for the easier contests and more fancy blinking mask beads for more difficult contests.

Super Bowl Party Favors

At the end of the game, pass out a personalized Mardi Gras Super Bowl Candy Bar to thank everyone for attending.  And since the party would not have been the same without your guests, crown them King or Queen with a Kings Crown or a Queens Crown!
