some of the party girl's favorites:
Corporate Luau Theme Party
Throw a Luau for your next corporate party it will be blast! Trust the party girl on it. Everyone loves a good pig roast, hula dancers, and tropical atmosphere. Gather employees for an end of the year party, company anniversary of summer Luau party! Whatever the reason make it casual and fun!
luau party Invitations
Luau invitations are so colorful and BRIGHT, just like Hawaii! Last time I went to a Luau I almost caught on fire from the Polynesian fire dancers… I sat way too close. Luau party invitations are totally versatile, go Tiki, Hawaiian tropical, or surf-style. Whatever you choose welcome employees to a Luau party paradise.
Another option is to go paperless for your invitations. It’s environmentally friendly! Create an online interactive invitation with the graphics department or the company’s graphic designer. If you are going totally Tiki, design a Tiki statue with the mouth opening and closing with fire coming out. When the mouth opens employees click on the fire and the invitation details pop out. Email it to everyone in the company and have the responses come back via email.
For a Hawaiian tropical look, include graphics of a Parrot, Hula Girl, flowers, and a lagoon. Have the Parrot deliver the invitation to the Hula girl who then reads the invitation only when the person receiving the invitation gets a lei’d.
Don’t forget to include on the invitation that Luau attire is required for all employees. No suits!
luau party decorations
Welcome guests in true Luau style. Line the entry way with Palm Trees. At the entrance into the party area have a florist create an archway with flowers and tiny lights. For another approach use a balloon archway with tropical colored balloons. Place a customized luau banner hanging above the doorway welcoming guests to “XYZ Company Luau Party.” Or make a sign on foam core with the company’s logo, graphics that match the invitations, and “XYZ Company Luau Party.”
Line the welcome table with a grass skirt. It’s absolutely perfect! Since this is not a formal sit down dinner, no need for seating cards. Instead hand out an assortment of wearables and noisemakers for your guests:
In the party room, line the walls (if the party is indoors of course) with a Tropical Scene Setter. If the party is outdoors in a tent line the party area with palm trees (you can rent real palm trees from a tropical plant rental company) and tropical flowers in pots. Another approach is to purchase bamboo fencing from a florist and place around the party area like a screen and line with tropical lights or light up flower garland.
Then, in one area of the room place a waterfall. This makes an awesome addition for the party! Perfect for photos! We love it. Place on either side of the waterfall cutouts of a hula girl and guy for even better photo-ops.
luau table decorations and menu ideas
String tiny lights throughout the whole area on the ceiling. Cover each table with a brightly colored linens and a Luau table skirt. Use Tropical Ti Leaves (a traditional Luau item) as placemats and tropical bandanas as napkins. Use lei bracelets for napkin rings.
- Make centerpieces for the tables out of the hilarious flaming tiki heads tied off with balloon bouquets.
- Add candles (tropical colors, of course) around the table.
- Make your own centerpiece using large glass vases filled with tropical flowers and votive candles.

Make the bar area stand out with lantern garland and lots of lights. Be sure to have an assortment of fun cups and accessories on hand:

Some catering companies specialize in Luaus and can prepare everything that you will need. For inspiration, the Aloha Friends website offers recipes and other items to complete an authentic Luau.
