Twirling
Ballerina Party
Does your little girl dream in clouds of pink tulle? Does she walk around the
house on her toes and tell you that "everyone wears a leotard and tutu to
school"? At one time or another, every little girl's fantasy is to be a
ballerina. Give into this fantasy, and let your little girl invite her friends
over for a Ballerina Birthday!
Invitations
Find invitations with a ballet design on it at your local party store. Or,
make one on a pink tag board and, for a special look, tie a pink ribbon in a
bow off the top (just put in two holes and tie the ribbon). Pink is the word.
Print the necessary information on the board or run it through your computer
before you cut them. Ask guests to arrive in their favorite ballerina costume.
Decorations
Pink everywhere! Hang pink streamers along the walls with pink tulle. White
can be used too. Hang posters of famous ballets and dancers, and if you have
a pair of ballet shoes string those up as well.
Think about a
Princess banner to feature the guest of honor.
If you really want your
birthday ballerina to make an entrance consider the
Ballet Entrance and Mirror .
Scatter pink confetti in the shape of stars all over the table, and
accessorize with pink and white plates (unless you can find some that go with
your ballet theme). Wrap the plastic pink cutlery in a napkin and tie it off
with a piece of pink tulle (or a pink hair "scrunchy" that the girls
can take home). Try tying it off with mini ballet slippers.
There is a very nice
Princess design for your paper goods.
Centerpiece - Use a
stuffed ballerina bear found at a local store and tie it off with pink and
white balloons. You could also use a music box with a ballerina on it (I see
them everywhere) as the centerpiece, and tie balloons to that as well.
Seating Cards - Place a
Party411 custom
designed sign in front of the seating cards (decorated with ballet shoes) to
help direct the guests to their tables.
Cutouts - What a great photo opportunity! Place a
Party411 custom designed cutout of a ballerina in the
party room. Take a picture of each guest as he/she places his/her head in the
ballerina cutout. This is also a fun and novel idea for a take home favor.
Menu
Serve sandwiches in the shape of ballet slippers. You should be able to
find a cookie cutter shaped like a ballet slipper, but if not, let the girls
make sandwiches and cut them out in shapes like butterflies and hearts.
The
Twinkle Toes Ensemble is the perfect design for your paper goods.
Activities
-
Scope out what's available for
the party in your community. Is there a dance studio that will lend you some
space? Teach the girls a new step? Give a demonstration? Think of the fun
everyone would have! This is something different that everyone is sure to enjoy!
-
No matter what the theme
piñatas
are always fun. Try a
ballet slipper pinata to create some fun.
-
Have a contest to see who can
walk around on their tiptoes for the longest amount of time!
-
Have the girls decorate their own
tutus with chiffon, or other material that can be found at your local fabric
store (buy sequins, beads, etc. to make them really sparkle).
-
Invite everyone to join you at
the ballet!
Party Favors
Fill treat bags with all
kinds of girlie stuff: hair accessories (to keep hair out of the face when
dancing), plastic beaded necklaces or bracelets, nail polish, or stickers are
always fun. Young kid’s love
Sesame Street Ballet Stickers
or
Barbie Ballet Stickers, etc. As the actual treat bag, you can simply buy some pink tulle and cut it
into squares. Wrap the treats up in the netted fabric, and tie it with a pink
curly ribbon! Your ballerinas are sure to love it so much that they will do a
pirouette!
