Grade "A" Graduation Party IdeasA Graduation Theme Party
It's always better to have a theme for a party. Graduation alone works well, but if you add the interests of the graduate, it becomes a more fun party, not to mention a bit easier to decorate. Don't get me wrong, just using graduation stuff is fine. Turning graduation caps upside down and filling them with flowers or balloons (more economical) makes for a great centerpiece and sticks with any theme. Check out all of our graduation party themes for other themes and read below for some quick ideas! Graduation Invitations Think about one of our caricatures as an invitation. We just did an invitation for a woman with her son (who was into basketball) wearing a t-shirt under an open graduation gown that had the name of the college he was going to in the fall. He had a basketball under one arm, he was standing in his bedroom, his computer screen showed NASA (he's into space travel), he was wearing a stethoscope around his neck (he wants to be a doctor), his dog was at his feet and loads more. It was fabulous and got raves. Plus she said she's going to frame one for her and one for him! If you don’t want a caricature invitation you can still make the graduate the center of attention from start to finish. They've earned it. The invitation should match the likes and style of the graduate. A personalized invitation from Party411's Creations for You™ is a great starting place. We have over 20 designs (some of the new ones are fabulous!) so we are sure to have an invitation that will fit your graduate. For this theme I would suggest an invitation that will let you put the graduate’s picture front and center. Otherwise you can find great graduation invitations at Carlson Craft. Or, find an invitation that matches your theme at your local party store. Outside Up the driveway or leading to the walk to the party entrance, think about putting school pennants. Just attach them to sticks and put them in the ground to wave everyone to the front door. Use high school or college pennants depending on which way you decide to go. If you don't want to use pennants, try a Graduation Party Sign. If it isn't too hot outside, attach graduation balloons to your mailbox, railings, etc., but don't buy them if it's going to be really warm...they just won't last!! Last but not least, put a boom box at the door and play our graduation CD…that will get everyone in the spirit. Inside Decor
Use the high school colors for your theme or if the student is college-bound, you may want to use the college colors. Usually there are two colors--do one color cloth to the floor and do the other color as a topper and reverse them from table to table for a great look. Also, do both color napkins at each table--every other place setting. For napkin rings, wrap graduation garland around each napkin. For some examples of graduation paper goods:
For your centerpiece, stick with your theme. If the graduate is into music, consider our music note fedoras with music notes filled with balloons and shredz or paper confetti available at party stores. The caricature invitation can be made into a centerpiece, or, if you decide to do something more generic like a star motif (anyone who graduates is a star, after all), use a 2008 Holographic Star Centerpiece. If you don't have time to make your own centerpieces, consider these: Make sure you have a sign-in board or sign-in book so everyone can leave messages for the graduate. But make it easy for them. Have them write down what they think will become of the graduate so he or she can look back on it in 10 years for a laugh. A sign on the table with a few starting words as examples will help get the ball rolling…
Things like that. Fun and easy. Graduation Favors Again, I say stick with your theme. Use one of our graduation party candy bars, and/or do something that fits the graduate. We recently did a soccer graduation party and we tied soccer yo-yo's around the napkins, gave everyone a nametag that was hung off a soccer ball whistle and used soccer ball erasers (miniatures) as confetti. Even the candy was foil-wrapped chocolate soccer balls! Or try a photo themed graduation party, since these events lend themselves to reminiscing. Leave out a photo album or two and people will remember events and be happy to share those memories. And set up a 2008 photo op and hand out personalized cameras to let your guests make some great new memories! Music Depends on what kind of party you want to have, but if the graduate is into it and you can afford it, a DJ would be great fun. Consider doing the party with several other families so the cost doesn't get out of hand. Otherwise, there are great CDs of party music available that can make you your own DJ. And some bands today are even less expensive than DJs…I kid you not. Graduation Party Decorations, Favors and More
