Black and Orange Ball

This Halloween celebrate with a Black and Orange Ball (or party). My friend Sue Cahn started this a few scary years ago, and we do it every year. Every single thing she decorates with, serves or even thinks about has to be in orange and/or black. Think about it, Halloween decorations, invitations and favors all in black and orange.  It’s fabulous.  She's had some great ideas over the years...and I'm sure you can come up with some of your own as well.

Halloween Invitations

Black on orange paper, of course. Tell your friends they must wear black and, yes, orange. If you would like us to create a personalized invitation for your theme party consider our pumpkin invitation.

Halloween Party Decorations

Of course, for those who aren't in such a festive mood, you'll have official Halloween beads on hand to dress them up a bit (Pick from black & orange, Jack O'Lantern, witch medallions or just throw an orange boa or some Halloween leis on them and they’ll be ready to go.

Line Pumpkin Luminaries up your walkway or driveway. There is a decorating kit that you might have fun with or do it yourself with pumpkins (orange), witches (black silhouettes), etc. Hang black bats and crows from the ceiling. Use black and orange tablecloths. Drape one over the other for a better look (the bottom one is bigger); alternate on different tables...black underneath, orange on top; orange underneath, black on top, etc. Big black spider webs look great over orange tablecovers, too.

Scatter Halloween confetti around on all the buffet and other surfaces (you don't find cleaning up). Use black and orange crepe paper wherever you can. Get crazy, it could be fun. Of course black plastic spiders are important, as are spooky eye luminaries. Fill in with orange and black Halloween balloons.

Of course, you'll want to use black and orange plates, cups, napkins, plasticware.

For centerpieces, use black and orange tiger striped fedoras and derbies and possibly for napkins, if you really want to go all out, use black and orange kerchiefs. An alternative to this is pumpkins as centerpieces, black cauldrons or fiber optic bat witch hats.

Menu

This is where my friend Sue goes all out. She makes an orange cake with orange frosting and black decor. Everything she serves is in theme. She orders in BBQ wings (they are orange), she makes orange Jello, pasta with cream sauce that she has colored orange, orange flavored drinks, candies (licorice and candy corn are popular, of course) and more. Anything she can turn orange or black, she does. We're always in awe! I never knew what you could do with food coloring! Visit PartyMenu411 for great recipes and menu ideas.

Favors

Send guests home with their own carved pumpkin. You can find the smaller ones just about anywhere now. Draw faces on them with black marker.

Try Halloween themed gift bags filled with candy. Most everyone has a sweet tooth.
