Homecoming!!
Besides the football thing going on,
homecoming is almost as good as prom. At prom, you never get to build a float,
right? We've got everything you need for your homecoming event--from the
small stuff (like tiaras, balloons with your school name, imprinted lanyards,
favors like glow jewelry and more) to the big stuff (props for your float or
dance, giant 3-D letters to get your team name across and even large football
helmets you can personalize with your team name).
So let's get started.
Theme Ideas
Harvest
Moon
This is a great theme for homecoming. After all, it is autumn, no?
Besides a great hoedown barn, this theme offers split rail fences, harvest
trees, straw bales, giant cornshocks and more. Just like an old-fashioned
barn dance, this theme is great fun and everyone who attends can dress "farm"--overalls,
straw hats… Not the usual event… think about getting a caller and doing
some square dances. Have a photo opportunity with bales of hay and a cow (a
prop, of course) with a stool so guests can have a picture of themselves
milking. Corny but fun.
Spirit
of America
Still the greatest idea around. Start with our Lady Liberty arch for
everyone to walk through as they enter. Put red, white and blue torch
columns around the room for a great effect and hang stars and stripes
gossamer from the ceilings and walls. Use just plain red, white and blue
balloons for your centerpieces or go all out with red, silver and blue Mylar
star balloons. Put up a "wall of stars" with all your guests name on them.
Or just a wall of stars and let your guests sign their wishes for the future
of our country on each star. Nothing wrong with being patriotic and
celebrating our freedom!
La Noche Dorada
Nothing better than a western theme for a great party. Again, everyone
gets to dress western, wear a sheriff's badge (with their name on it), do
fun things with their kerchiefs and chow down on a chuckwagon menu
(hamburgers and such--inexpensive!!).
First drink can be in a glass boot mug, and you can pass out colored
cowboy hats. On either side of the band put giant lit cactus and for your
photo op, use a 5' high cowboy boot!
Halloween
Well, this is the perfect theme. Turn your homecoming event into a giant
Halloween party. We've got several ideas:
Written
in the Stars
Can't
Fight the Moonlight
Very cool. Hang Mylar 26" balloon stars from the ceiling. Give guests
name badges that are actually blinking stars. Hang a moon overhead and fill
the room with balloon trees using star balloons. Use our 3-D "star"
centerpiece with star confetti scattered around it on black tablecloths--and
do some special effects lighting so light is reflected everywhere
(especially on the dancefloor). Everyone will have stars in their eyes by
the time the evening is over.
Frosted
Twilight
Magic
in the Snow
Snowflake
Wonderland
Whispers
of Winter
I love these themes. Mix them and match them or do just one. Each one is
magical. Between the snowflake gossamer on the ceiling, frosted trees,
wintry balloon trees, the little lights on walls and windows--you feel like
you're in the most romantic place on earth! There's a great frosted twilight
fountain and arch for photo opportunities and creating a fantasy atmosphere.
Night
in New Orleans Mardi Gras
Bourbon
Street Masquerade
It may not be until February, but Mardi Gras is the best of all. And
anyway--it's close to Halloween so this is just another masquerade party of
sorts. Who doesn't like wearing a mask so they can be whoever they want to
be (until they take it off, of course). Using purples, golds and greens…your
room will bounce with color. We have great masks, a New Orleans arch for a
photo op, and columns for either side of the band or DJ. Check it out!
Box
Office Bliss
A premiere party for the football team. I love it. Giant popcorn boxes on
either side of the stage with a great popcorn balloon arch makes for a
terrific focal point in the room. Name each table for one of the zillion "football"
movies that exist (e.g., Table 1, The Replacements). Then add a movie
popcorn centerpiece to each table and use popcorn as confetti around the
base. For your photo opportunity, use either one of the giant popcorn boxes
or our ticket booth prop. Don't forget red carpet, maybe a search light and
perhaps some sawhorses out front as people enter! One fantastic evening, I
swear!
Down
by the Sea
Not your childhood "My Little
Mermaid," so don't worry. Besides netting, giant anchors, a funky pier for
pictures and our lighthouse silhouettes, you can fill the room with lanterns
and fog (fog machines are easy to rent and easy to use). It's a fun, casual
theme and won't leave your guests fishing for something else to do that
night. Sorry, couldn't help it…
Escape
to Paradise
Luaus are our most popular theme. They never go out of style. And we've
got a luau hut, giant palm trees and even a huge paradise palm tree arch
that guests can walk through into the room. The tables are adorned with
coconut votives, tissue pineapples and more while your guests are adorned
with leis, flower combs and beach hats. Ooooh, can I come?
Soda
Shop Hop
A good old-fashioned sock hop is very very in these days. Old juke boxes,
a penny candy area, a photo opportunity in a 57 Chevy (call your local auto
museum for names of people who rent theirs out), socks with your school
name, a giant sundae on the dance floor and poodles skirts and leather
jackets… You always wanted to be a greaser, right? Now's the time!
Retro
Romance
Hippies unite. Being a 60's child, of course I would pick this for my
homecoming theme. The smile faces make it and the balloon and daisies bring
the room alive with yellows, pinks, purples and all the colors of Woodstock.
Tell your guests to get out those bellbottoms and tie-dyed shirts. Give out
hippie headbands with a peace sign in the center, get a DJ who knows the 60's
music and perhaps build a wall with autographs and words from songs of
Crosby, Stills and Nash, the Doors, the Stones and others. Then put on your
tinted John Lennon glasses for a great party.
How to Do It
Build a Float. We can help!
If you want the perfect float for your homecoming event, you've come to the
right place. Not only do we have all of the pieces and parts to decorate it,
we have themes and huge props that will get everyone's attention. In fact, we're
even having a "float" contest…you may want to submit your float.
Here
are some ideas:
- Bet on a win
- Graveyard
- Caged!
- Number 1
- Sinking Ship
Decorate
with our great props and gossamers…
Fundraising Ideas
Chances are you're going to have to raise money to hold the homecoming
event you want. We have a ton of event
ideas plus below
are some items you can sell and how to do it!
- candy
- rice krispie treats
- easy does it cookbook
- house warmer candle collection

Photo Opportunities
We've put together some great ideas.
What Else?
There's not a lot of difference between homecoming etiquette and prom
etiquette, so check these out… Again, wherever it says "prom"--you know what
to do!
