A Star is BornThrow a "heavenly" baby shower for mommy-to-be and baby with a star themed baby shower. From the beautiful star and moon theme baby shower invitation to star decorations in soft blue, yellow and white, this is a beautiful theme that can work for a mom who is expecting a boy or a girl. Star Theme Baby Shower Invitations
If you want to go all out for you mother-to-be consider having a custom caricature of her drawn! Not only can you use it for invitations, but signage, seating cards and favors too!
You can always make your own invitations for this "Star is Born" baby shower. Stick with white, light blue and yellow colors and graphics. Use fun wording to convey the theme of the shower -
If the baby's sex is not known, use this cute rhyme on your invite "Twinkle twinkle little star, how we wonder what you are. Baby girl or baby boy, either way you'll bring us joy!"
Invitations should be sent out about 4 weeks before the shower. Work with the mom to be to define the guest list and pick a date the works for her. The hostess should set a budget and pick a location, both of which will affect the guest list.
Star Theme Baby Shower Decorations and Party Supplies
Balloons are perfect decoration for baby showers; they are economical, they make a big impact, and there are some really cute designs available for baby showers! Make bunches of light blue, yellow and white latex balloons. Add a fun star Mylar balloon to each bunch (they come in blue, white and yellow, so mix them up).
An easy trick to making balloon bouquets that look great is to always group balloons in odd numbers, which are more pleasing to the eye. You can get some cute baby shoe balloon weights for the balloons bouquets too. Another fun idea is to buy small baby toys and stuffed animals and use those as balloon weights. You can give them to the mom-to-be as a gift at the end of the party.
To make a crepe paper canopy over the party area, attach several pieces to the middle of the room with masking tape. Extend it to the corners and walls, twisting as you go. For a multi colored effect, twist two different colors of crepe together. Attach a few balloons over the crepe paper ends to cover any tape and ragged ends.
Another fun idea is to incorporate children's nursery rhymes into your décor. Stick with ones that involve the moon and stars. You can frame them and use them for table decorations or make them poster sized and hang them on the walls. Here are a few to get you started -
You are well on your way to having a beautiful baby shower. Now let's move on to
the tables! Star Theme Baby Shower Table Decorations and Menu
Use balloon bouquets for your centerpieces. You can also sprinkle some confetti across the top of the tables, I would use a mix of iridescent star confetti and blue star confetti. The food that you serve at a baby shower depends on the time of day you are having the party.
For dessert you can go with an array of pastries, a sheet cake, or (my favorite) cupcakes. Or stick with your theme and serve star shaped cookies with yellow and light blue icing. One final and fun decoration you can make are Napkin Diapers. Take a napkin and fold it in half to make a triangle. Bring the bottom point of the triangle up to the fold. bring in each of the side points to the middle of the "diaper". Secure with a small safety pin. Place one Napkin Diaper at each place setting Star Theme Baby Shower Games and Activities
One of the main activities at a baby shower is watching the guest of honor open all of the cute baby gifts! When she opens her gifts, make sure someone is writing down who gave what. A family member is usually a better choice than a friend for this job because they are familiar with many of the guests. Also, be ready with a trash bag for all of the paper!
Many baby showers offer games for the guests to play. Here are a few printable games that you can leave on the tables for guests to amuse themselves with - We also have a huge list of baby shower games that you can play throughout the party on our Baby Shower Games page.
If you want a more structured activity you can buy a bunch of plain wooden star shapes from your local craft store. Paint the stars a soft yellow before the party, and each guest can write a message on one with a permanent marker. Mom can use these as a nursery decoration or store them in a keepsake box for baby!
Star Theme Baby Shower Party Favors
You can also make your own party favors. Why not give a small star shaped cookie cutter with a tag that says "Thanks for showering Mommy Jane and Baby Lilly with your love".
