College Football Party Ideas. Hosting the Big Bowl Game!

Football, football--'tis the season. With everything from invitations, decorations, and party favors in your team colors, your Bowl Game football party will take home the championship! Score a touchdown with these little touches the next time friends come over to watch your team in the big bowl game!

Bowl Game Invitations
Invitations help set the tone for any party. You can get fun football themed invitations at most gift stores. Or, why not try a personalized invitation from Party411? It works for any bowl game you might host! Or check out this one for the Fiesta Bowl!

You can also make your own bowl party invitation. Use paper in your team colors with fun football wording like "Come and watch Penn State Bowl Over USC in the Rose Bowl". Add a little football confetti to the envelope to jazz it up.

Our biggest seller are football ticket invitations. You get to use your own wording and choose from nine colors (go with one of your team's colors, or do a mix).

Football Decorations and Party Supplies
Continue supporting your favorite team by decorating in your team's colors. Crepe paper and balloons are an inexpensive and simple way to dress up a room.

Pom poms are available in every color imaginable. You can do a lot with these. I would hang a few from the ceiling with ribbon. Then I would make "bouquets" by grouping 3-5 pom-poms in vases, and adding a balloon bouquet coming out of the middle. Scatter them around the room so if anyone wants to make an impromptu cheer they have them handy!

I don't know about you, but we are all OSU fans (GO OHIO!). True fans not only wear the Buckeye's colors but also wear face paint and colored hairspray in gray and red on their face and head (and sometimes other body parts) to show their loyalty. So, go for it. Paint up your face. Answer the door, greet your guests and offer them body paint in the appropriate colors, and let them go at it. It washes right off, so nobody will complain.

You can also hand out noisemakers and other wearables to get your crowd going. Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Sunglasses
  • Inflatable Hats
  • Football Beads
  • Any wearables in your team colors!

It will be a blast. Wait 'til you see what they come up with. Your guests will decorate themselves and each other with vigor.

Bowl Game Party Menu and Table Decorations

Well, you can serve the regular stuff like pizza, nachos, chips and dips. An artichoke dip here, a crab dip there. But for something really different, why not serve football and beer bottle shaped smoked sausage with some great cheddar cheese?

Light up football cubes are made to go in drinks, but they also look great scattered on tables (feel free to put some in your guest's glasses as well).

My go-to Bowl Party recipe is a simple layered taco dip. You can make it a few hours ahead of time, so it is easy on you too!

Layered Taco Dip
(serves about 25)
Ingredients

  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 16 oz can refried beans
  • 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
  • 16 oz container sour cream
  • 1 jar medium salsa
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 8 oz of guacamole
  • 1 cup sliced black olives
  • 3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Blend the taco seasoning into the beans. Spread into a large serving dish (preferably clear glass, so you can see all of the layers).
  2. Mix the sour cream and cream cheese together, spread half of the mixture over the beans.
  3. Add other ingredients in layers in the following order; guacamole, onion, salsa, cheese, and the other half of the sour cream/cream cheese mixture.
  4. Garnish the top with a little more cheese and the black olives.
  5. You can serve it at room temperature, or pop it in the oven for 25 minutes at 350 (make sure you layer it in an oven safe dish if you are going to heat it!). Serve with tortilla chips.

You are going to need lots of cold beverages on hand to wash all of that dip down. And make sure to buy plenty of ice (we never do)!

Football Party Favors
A "fan"-tastic favor is a personalized football candy bar. A delicious milk or dark chocolate candy bar surrounded by a personalized wrapper from Party411 is a tasty way to end the party.

Personalized water bottle labels are another favor that is personal, useful, and fun. These labels fit standard sized water bottles and are waterproof, so place them in a beer cooler by the bar and watch your guests go crazy over them (you may want to get extras)! Matching personalized football beer bottle labels are available as well, so you can offer a variety of personalized drinks.

Your bowl game party will be so much fun; your guests will never want to watch a game at home again! With ideas and products from Party411.com you know that all your celebrations will be memorable ones.
