The 4th of July is a perfect time for a patriotic party. Celebrate with flags, fireworks, a parade and barbecue.

Patriotic Party Parade
Have a patriotic parade for the kids. So what if it’s from the front yard to the back yard? The kids will have fun dressing up and the parents will love taking photos!

Ingredients
To Play
  • Select an area to do the parade.
  • Decorate with patriotic bunting and patriotic party banners.
  • Gather all of the kids.
  • Have them make decorations and signs to carry.
  • Hand out all of the toys.
  • Vote on who should be the Grand Marshall.
  • Start the music and the parade.

Pin the Hat On Uncle Sam
A fun patriotic kids game that everyone can enjoy.

Ingredients
  • Paper Top Hat
  • Markers
  • Blindfolds
  • Cut-out Stars
  • Flag Stickers
  • Uncle Sam Poster
  • Double Sided Sticky Tape
To Play
  • Give each child a small paper top hat to decorate as Uncle Sam's hat.
  • Then blindfold each child, and have him try to stick the hat on Uncle Sam.
  • The child who comes closest to putting the hat in the right place wins a prize.
  • Prizes may be awarded for the "most creative," "most colorful, etc. hats.
 
Top Hat Decorating Contest
A patriotic party game for kids that lets them express their creativity. Let the kids show off their hats in a parade for the parents.

  • Top Hat
  • Markers & Crayons
  • Cut-out Stars
  • Flag Stickers
  • Glue
  • Red, White & Blue Glitter
  • Double Sided Sticky Tape
  • Scissors
  • Multi-Colored Paper
  • Crepe Paper Streamers
To Play
  • Prior to the party, ask all of the kids to bring their bikes for a bike parade.
  • Have all of the kids make top hats that will fit them.
  • Decorate the hats and the bikes with the streamers.
  • Award prizes for the "most colorful", "most elaborate", most creative", etc.
  • Then have a bike parade around the neighborhood to a famous march.
 
Patriotic Trivia
Test your guest’s knowledge of American History.

Ingredients
  • Pens or Pencils
  • Photocopies of the Trivia Questions
To Play
  • Go to USA History.com and print out one of the trivia games. Don’t forget to record the answers.
  • Right before the barbecue is done and everyone is hanging out, hand out the trivia questions and pens or pencils.
  • Whoever answers all of the questions right and in the shortest amount of time wins.
