Fran Blaszczyk asked:
Occasion: Retirement Party
I need quick easy games to play at a retirement party
to break the ice, add laughter, honor the retiree,
etc. I also would love ideas for poems, songs for
the group to make up about the retiree.
The Game Girl says:
As an icebreaker, have everyone come dressed in some
sort of classic retirement outfit, such as a golfer,
fisherman, bum, etc. Then break them into groups and
have them make up group "rap" songs about the retiree,
based on a retirement career. If you put them in
groups, they're more likely to come up with funny
songs and not be too shy to present them to the
guest of honor.
Ann asked:
Occasion: Retirement party
What sort of game or fun can we have at a retirement party?
The Game Girl says:
I got this one from THE BEST PARTY BOOK which is available at the Party411 Bookstore.
Have a "This Was Your Office Life" game where you showcase some of the more
interesting aspects of the retiree's career - the funnier, the better. Hold a roast and
have everyone share a funny story or embarrassing moment about the retiree. Play
"Retirement Aptitude" by asking the retiree typical questions about retirement,
such as "Where do you get a fishing license?", "How do you program a
VCR?" "How do you swing a golf club?" "How do you cook a meal with
only four ingredients?" and "How do you say 'Where is the bathroom' in three
languages?"
