An Evening in the Orient
Party Type: |
Benefit |
Invitation: |
Invitation is complex -- red pepper/stucco paper (red side out) with a gate fold. The stucco side (a putty color) was printed over with a black background, and the text remained stucco. On the inside, two die-cut half-circles (top and bottom of middle section) held a semi-transparent sheet printed in red with the party inormation. The two front panels closed over this portion and were sealed with a gold seal. |
Decor: |
Decor: Two bonsai trees at entrance to party, Red Xmas lights traversing ceiling, from which we hung white Chinese lanterns. White table cloths with black overlays, centerpieces with red flowers.
Party Favors: Personalized fortune cookies, Chinese-themed hand-held fans |
Food: |
Salad with mandarin oranges, Egg rolls for appetizers, won ton soup, oriental chicken dish |
Music: |
Any music will do. |
Highlight: |
I wouldn't necessarily say it was outstanding, but I used red and black napkins, imprinted with an Oriental symbol for love, in the bathrooms just to tie the theme together. I basically went with standard paper napkins and bought a stamper and two ink pads. The true highlight, though, were the fortune cookies, which I ordered to say (company name) thanks you for spending An Evening in the Orient with us, followed by the date. |
