A Chanukah MitzvahA Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah Theme Party
This theme is perfect for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah falling during or close to Chanukah Welcome your guests with a giant menorah floating on a ¾ foam core board displayed on an easel. Don't forget to have a sign welcoming everyone to "A Chanukah Mitzvah with (Child's Name)". Have a boom box playing Chanukah songs in the entry area. Next to the welcome sign, have a lifesize cutout of your child dressed like a dreidel! Include a speech bubble that says,
Happy Chanukah! Having you here is the best gift of all! Sign-in Area Have a sign-in board for your child with a caricature drawing of your child holding a dreidel in one hand and any surrounded by items that represent their interests. On the sign in board have, "Don't dreidel around - Or have 3D sign in books, personalized for your child. Be sure to include information about Chanukah for the cover of the book and make sure to have a sign with the text from the sign in board (suggested above) to go with the sign in book. Remember to place a bouquet of balloons at the sign-in boards or at the table with the sign in books Seating Cards For adults - a little white box decorated with a blue bow and ribbon and filled with "gelt." Tag off with a personalized seating card with the guest's name and table number. Or personalized photo chocolate favors tagged with the guest's name and table number. Have a bouquet of balloons at this area. Of course you can do either of these for the kids' but really no need to do any seating for the kids. They will be too busy tablehopping and dancing. The Party Room Cocktail Napkins: Have them imprinted with a Jewish Star upon which the Chanukah candles are displayed saying: Chanukah Greetings from (Child's Name), with date. Or use pre-printed Chanukah theme cocktail napkins. Tables:
DJ/Band Area: a 3x8' blue and white sign saying: "Happy Chanukah from (Child's Name)" Candlelighting Use a 4x5' replication of the artwork used on the cocktail napkins. The flames would be velcroed. As each guest comes forward, they will be handed and will place their Velcro flame atop a candle. Additional candles can be added in the background as needed - depending on the number of people your children are calling up. Party Favors The DJ should pass out blue glow sticks, blue and white boas and other fun Chanukah dancefloor party goods. At each place setting, have a dreidel filled with candy. You can attach a note indicating that a tree has been planted in each guest's name. Also try our customized candy bars.
