"Gobs of Fun"

A Gobstoppers Theme Bar or Bat Mitzvah Theme

Looking for a twist on your average candy party?  Why not have Gobs of Fun with a Gobstoppers candy theme Bar or Bat Mitzvah? What could be better than a candy that never melts in your mouth and lasts forever?

Your colors for this event are Gobstopper colors - red, bright green, yellow, purple and orange.  So, use those for your decorations throughout the party.

Invitations

Along with your formal Bar or Bat Mitzvah invitation, you want to include a fun party invitation.  You can mail it with your formal invitation (in the same envelope) or mail it separately shortly after you mail your formal invitation. 

A polka dot invitation is perfect for a Gobstoppers theme party.  There are a variety of colors to choose from!  Some dazzle dots confetti (bright colors!) would be a lot of fun to include in the envelope with your invitations.

A caricature invitation is also another great choice.  Have your child drawn holding an armload of Gobstoppers boxes, laying in a pile of brightly colored Gobstoppers.  Tell everyone to get ready to have GOBS of fun.

Welcome and Cocktail Area

At the entrance, have a large lit sign covered with polka dots that says, "You're going to have GOBS of fun with (Child's Name)!" (with the Gobstoppers label on it).

Since Gobstoppers are a Willy Wonka candy, have a few Oompa Loompa cutouts at the door.  You can even have speech bubbles with them welcoming everyone with Oompa Loompa-ish phrases, like, "Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-do! I have a perfect WELCOME for you."

Imprinted cocktail napkins are great for cocktails and dessert at a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.  Have these napkins printed to read, "Gobs of Fun with (Child's Name)!" and include the party date.  You can get napkins in an assortment of bright colors.

Have fun with your cocktail hour.  Serve your drinks for the adults during the cocktail hour in light up martini glasses.  Serve drinks for the kids in fun glow cups with LED light up straws! 

Then decorate the area with polka dot balloons.  Any balloon company can get you polka dot balloons in your event colors and create great balloon bouquets and arches to use in the entrance, cocktail area and throughout the party.  Hang small cutouts of the Gobstopper characters hanging from the bouquets.  (Scan them from the box, enlarge them and print them out on cardstock in a variety of sizes.)

Sign-in and Seating Card Area

Have a sign-in board made that says: "Gobs of Fun with (Child's Name)." If you used a caricature for your invitation, include that artwork on the sign in board as well. 

Or use a personalized 3D sign in book instead with details about the Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebrant.  One of your "favorites" for the book can be Gobstoppers and we'll include a picture of the candy right on the top.  Whichever sign-in you choose, be sure to have a bouquet of balloons nearby!

Seating cards should be boxes of Gobstoppers with a sticker attached as the seating card. The seating card should continue the "Gobs of Fun with (Child's Name)" and have the guest's name and table number on it.

Have a sign next to the seating cards that says, "There's "gobs" of seats but only one for you!"

The Party Room

Have a backdrop behind the DJ that says, "Gobs of fun with (Child's Name)" and make sure there's terrific lighting on it.  Have balloon towers on either side of the stage in your event colors, with a giant 3' circle balloon on the top of the tower.

Hang large circular paper lanterns from the ceiling around the party room.  You might want to hire someone to do this or ask for help from your party center.  They can be hung with magnets and wire.  Easy and super cool!

During the evening have a "Gobs of Fun" Scavenger Hunt!  Leave clues on more Gobstoppers cutouts under dinner plates of where to find "gobs of fun things" like glow jewelry and other fun stuff.  Or hide Gobstopper cutouts throughout the room and see who can find the most at the end of the evening.  Have prizes ready for the winner!

A caricature artist can draw a caricature of each child highlighting his or her favorite candy for a fun party favor.

Gobstoppers Theme Table Decorations   

Start your table decorations with great linens in red, bright green, yellow, purple and orange.  Use one color on each table, alternating them around the room.  Then use the same color napkins on your tables.  Or use yellow as the linen on all the tables, since that is the main color on the boxes.  Then use the other colors for napkins.  Either way, you'll see that a room full of bright linens really has great impact!

Make enlarged Gobstoppers candy boxes for your centerpieces.  They can be 3-sided bases and you can add great balloon bouquets to each centerpiece.  Or use your invitation caricature as a centerpiece base with balloons coming out. 

Print "Today's Candy" published by (Child's Name) and write reviews of all his or her favorite candy and place one at each place for your guests to enjoy.

Party Favors

Be sure to have plenty of fun Gobstopper and polka dot theme favors on hand for your guests, like:

• Polka dot glasses

• Psychedelic circle fedora hats
