The British Are Coming!
Invitations
Caricature of the child dressed as a palace guard inviting everyone to attend his/her BRITISH Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
Welcome Area
Have a directional sign made directing people to famous British sites:
Sign-in Area The sign-in board would have famous names already signed on it just for fun … also with a picture of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrant … signed by:
Or have a 3D sign in book personalized for your child. The books make a great memento from your event! Have a bouquet of balloons next to the sign-in board or book! Seating Cards Have a "tube" (subway) map with blue lines and red lines … with directions like … Adults: "Mr. & Mrs. Gold … Kids: "Brian Smith … Have a sign on the seating card table, "Take the TUBE (that's the subway, blokes) to your destination!" Have balloons in this area too! Caricature Have a caricature of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrant as a palace guard and use throughout the room. The Party Room At the entrance to the party room, have two palace guards in full regalia on either side of the door. An optional cut-out would be an English bobbie (policeman) who would greet guests with a speech balloon that says, "no shirt, no shoes, no service!" Kids' Area: The Kids' area would have a sign overhead that says:
"LONDON ZOO" with animals peeking out. Their buffet table would have
small British flags waving from it along with a sign that makes it look like a
concession at the ZOO. This sign could be held up by an English bobbie
(policeman) … with a speech balloon attached stating: Cocktail Napkins: "The British are coming! The British are coming! Tables:
Band Backdrop: a large British flag. After the party starts, move the two cut-out palace guards to either side of the stage. Put up an easel with a sign that says: "Changing of the Guard … 10:00 p.m." Then at 10:00 p.m., for fun, the DJ can have the Bar/Bat Mitzvah change the guard...switching the cut-outs…if you like. Newsletter The London Times (all about Jonathan and his relatives and friends from out of town who came to visit). Photo Op Have a cut-out of the cover (8'x8') of the album cover from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on easels. Party Favors A great prize to give out (but unfortunately expensive) would be an Austin Powers Talking key chain. Tie one off each kid's napkin. They won't get that at any other Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
