Alien Blast-Off Party

It's the Millennium. The future is upon us. With the advent of X-Files and other sci-fi delights, kids are really excited by aliens…so give into it and have an alien adventure that will blast into everyone's memory for the space age.

Invitations

Alien Invitations will blast your guest right into outer space. If you would rather make your own invitations, make sure to write something on them like, "The Martians Are Coming…to Andy's House!"

For a fun and creative invitation and party favor all in one, design your own T-shirt! Make sure to include all of the pertinent party information on the back of the shirt, while the front is a picture of a spaceship or an alien (or an alien's body with the head of the birthday boy/girl).

For a different kind of invitation, send each potential guest the party information written on a moon rock (rocks painted with iridescent paint) attached to an alien key chain or space shadow flashlights.

Have an alien abduction! Give fair warning to parents as to the actual "abduction" but let it be a surprise for the kids. Hosting parents can dress as aliens and snatch up kids who are dressed in their own alien creations, blindfolded and whooshed away to the party location. Your guest of honor can have his or her very own space helmet to protect him from the swarm of aliens out and about.

Have a custom alien invitation made by Party411. Send us a picture and we'll show your guest of honor in an outer space caricature, per your specifications. Click here for more information.

Decorations

Fill an Alien Air Walker with helium and set him up outside to greet your guests by the door.

Think of places other than home to have this shindig. Perhaps your guests could party in a room at the Children's Museum, or at the Science Museum, where kids can marvel at the wonders of air and space.

If you have the party at home, have it in your basement. Cover the walls with black fabric from your local fabric store. Decorate the walls with all kinds of glow in the dark stickers and objects and make your own objects of the solar system to hang from the ceiling. Have your guest of honor participate by making his own alien decorations. Use glow in the dark paint to decorate your black cloths or have the kids paint them as a party activity or try our glow in the dark chalk. We've also got a great array of glow in the dark novelties and wearables to spruce up your very own outer space.

Centerpieces - Use a space helmet turned upside down and fill it with alien balloons that are tied together and anchored inside with a weight. Another option is to use an Alien Piñata as the focal point of the table. Sprinkle the table with star and moon or outer space confetti or alien confetti. Use alien bounce balls or bouncing rock balls at each place setting. As long as the kids won't abuse them, spray paint rocks with neon green paint as moon rocks.

Place Settings -

Use alien blinking beads to wrap around napkins or water glasses to light up the table.

Menu

Plan your menu, but don't go to outer space. Feed your guests ordinary foods with extraordinary names like Asteroid Applesauce, Beam Me up Beans, Pluto Pizza, Venus Veggies, Blast Off Burgers, etc. Make a cake in the shape of a spaceship or an alien.

Activities

The Alien Piñata from our Party Shop is a big hit at any party! Fill it with candy and different Alien stuff like pencil toppers, Alien Squirts, UFO spinning tops, stickers, alien pencils, alien whistles, bouncing rock balls and anything else your guests will enjoy.

Have an Aero Disc Blaster bullseye contest. See who can shoot the discs closest to the target.

Try these games, too:

  • "The Alien in the Lineup" - Get a picture of an alien but keep it hidden from the kids until game time. Give everyone pencil and paper and have them write down every detail they remember about the alien's appearance. After 3 minutes, call time. Show the picture of the alien and see how many details they got right. The one with the most right wins the prize.
  • "Space Exploration" - Divide the guests into 2 teams, and give each team a ball of yarn. Send the teams to different parts of the house, and have them wind the yarn around various pieces of furniture to create a maze. Have one group try to follow the yarn path through space. If anyone lets go they will be lost in space forever. When one team finishes, have the other team follow their yarn path. Then have a "Moon Rock Hunt" on your new planet. Paint rocks with glow-in-the-dark paint, and hide them around the room. Turn out the lights, then race to see who can collect the most moon rocks for a prize.

Of course, as the children leave, you will want to give them Alien Encounter Treat Bags. These bags include an Alien treat sack, glow in the dark key chain, pencil, pencil topper, Alien squirt, and a high bounce ball.

We've got a great assortment of glow in the dark novelties like necklaces, bracelets, glasses, lightsticks, literopes and stick-ons, too. There's even a glow alien necklace.

Consider a custom alien clock or a 3D Optic Space frame for a really unusual favor.
