Dr. Seuss Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Oh, The Places You'll Go!  A Dr. Seuss Adventure

A Bar or Bat Mitzvah Theme

Invitations

A caricature of your child in a hot air balloon with title, time, date and place; include in formal invitation and use for reception only. 

Or use a Dr. Seuss theme invitation with:

Oh, the Places You'll Go when you celebrate

Amy's Bat Mitzvah!

Congratulations to Amy, today is her day

She's off to great places, she's off and away!

Welcome Area

Have a welcome sign saying, "Congratulations! Tonight is your night. You’re off to great places with [your child's name], so get ready – you’re about to take flight!"

Sign-In Area

Sign in Board with your child's caricature (explained above) and the words "Oh the Places You’ll Go with [your child’s name]"

In the background is a directional sign showing all the places your child has been or wants to go!

Or use a great 3D personalized sign in book.  Your child will keep it forever!

Seating Card Area

Seating cards are Hot air balloon ticket ride "passes" to places the guests will be going.

Have a sign at the table saying, "You have brains in your head, and feet in your shoes. Make sure the table you pick is the right one to choose!"

The Party Room

Cocktail Napkins:

Have them printed to say:

"Use this napkin to clean your face. Wipe all the crumbs, don’t leave a trace!"

Bar/Buffet Area: Decorate with baseballs/peanuts/popcorn/crackerjacks

Tables:

• Cloths should match colors from the book—pink, green, and blue pastels

• Yellow pastel napkins

• Votive candles

• Confetti in mixed colors to match the four listed above

• Candy: non pariels in pastels

• Centerpieces/Adults: Hot air balloons looking much like the book (large balloon with ribbon tied to it with little baskets hanging off), with a Dr. Seuss character and child in each with table name.  If you want a different effect, on every other table, put a tree on a wire frame that looks like Dr. Seuss trees from book

• Centerpieces/Kids: Balloons coming out of Dr. Seuss hats

Personalized Cameras: Personalized Bar and Bat Mitzvah cameras on each table for your guests to use for pictures!

DJ/Band Backdrop:

Have a lit 3x8' sign made that appears to be held up at either end by hot air balloon. It should read,

"Oh, the places we’re going with [your child’s name] on his/her Bar/Bat Mitzvah!"

Activities

• Scavenger hunt…sending people throughout the room—oh the places they’ll go!!
• Caricaturist there drawing guests into a page from the book for them to take home

Prizes

• Dr. Seuss hats; not expensive and great fun

Newsletter

• A listing of the "Oh the Places You’ll Go this weekend with [your child’s name]," with highlights and special Articles written by family members, in characteristic "Dr. Seuss-ese."
