Couples Masquerade Bridal ShowerA Co-ed Bridal Shower Theme
Do you look at pictures of you and your spouse together, and imagine that the two of you are really Fred and Ginger, Lucy and Desi, or even Fred and Wilma? Do you long to dress like Tarzan, and make your spouse dress like Jane? Now is your chance to make your dreams a reality. Have a Couples Bridal Shower Masquerade! For a complete selection of Hollywood decorating ideas and some unusual party favors, visit Hollywood Decorating411. Invitations There are many fun ways to invite guests to your couples masquerade bridal shower:
Let everyone know they have to come dressed as their favorite couple--past, present, or future. Some fun couples from the past have been George and Louise (Weezie) Jefferson, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton (or Eddie Fisher), Lassie and Timmy, and Mickey and Minnie. Some current couples are Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, Melissa Etheridge and Julie Cypher, and of course Marge and Homer. A fun couple from the future is George Jetson, and Jane his wife. The possibilities are limitless! For a list of famous couples, click here. Decorations Celebrate Hollywood style! Gold and silver, Hollywood foil balloons, Hollywood confetti on the tables, and of course, roll out the "red carpet" at the door for the famous couples! You can also choose to decorate in an "old-world" romantic style. Think hearts, mood lighting (candles), classical music in the background etc. Have caricatures of different famous couples serve as the centerpiece for each table. An award statue with gold and silver balloons tied to it to give it some height also makes a great centerpiece. Make the seating cards out of Hollywood Walk of Fame stars (you could even let the couples share a star just for this occasion)! Have Creations For You make a huge custom cut-out of a famous couple that everyone knows (Marge and Homer, Mickey and Minnie, Fred and Wilma, etc.), and take each couple's picture with their heads on the bodies of the cut outs. The pictures will make great favors. Activities "I Never…" - Supply each of your guests with 20 M&M's (or any candy of your choice). The first person makes a true statement about themselves that begins with the words, "I never…". For example- If one person has never cheated on a mate, then she would say "I never cheated on a mate in my life". If the statement (without the "I never…") is true for other guests, then they must eat a piece of candy. Everyone should take at least one turn. Keep playing until it is obvious who will end up with the most candy- that is your winner! "Who's Your Mate?" - This game is similar to the Newlywed Game. Have one person from each couple leave the room. The host/hostess tailors some planned questions to the group and to certain couples. The other half of each couple stays in the room, and answers questions about their mate/date. They're supposed to answer each question the way they think their mate/date would respond. They need to write each answer down, so that when their partner returns he/she can give their own answer to each question. Assign point values for each question that is a match. Then reverse roles of the couples for the next set of questions. The couple with the most points wins a prize. Make sure the prize is something they can share! "The Not Yet Newleywed Game" - Contact the bride and groom before the shower, and ask them both a set of 10-20 questions: Favorite color, 1st job, and favorite musician, where he/she was first kissed, etc. Then have the couples at the shower try and answer how they think the bride and groom would answer. The couple who answers the most identical to the bride and groom-to-be is the winner. "Whose Kiss?" - This is a really funny game! Blindfold the bride, and have each of the males in attendance kiss her on the cheek. Give each guy a number, and tell the bride to guess which number is her hubby-to-be. Give a bag of Hershey's Kisses to the person she guesses is her husband-to-be. "Match the Couple" - On one side of a piece of paper write one person in the couple. On the other side write the other half of the couple, but make sure to mix up the names really well. Each person has to correctly match all of the couples, and the person who is the first to match the most couples correctly is the winner! Also try personalized candy bars for a sweet treat to send your guests home with. As for other prizes, make sure that the prizes are things that the couples can share such as a restaurant gift certificate, drink mixes, or a great movie themed gift basket. Also try customized candy bars.
