Party411.com™ SURVEY REVEALS HOLIDAY OFFICE PARTIES HAVE DRINKS
AVAILABLE DESPITE ALCOHOL-INDUCED MISHAPS
An online survey conducted by Party411.com, the last word when it comes to
online party planning, reveals that 69% of holiday office party goers think
alcohol should be served at company parties, despite nearly 85% stating that the
most appalling things happening at office parties are alcohol-induced. In
addition, 41% stated the company should pay for 1-2 alcoholic drinks and 37%
stated the company should provide an open bar.
The holiday office party survey was conducted with a random sample of people
who answered questions via the Party411.com website. Nearly 450 people completed
the survey. Among a variety of questions posed, from whether or not extramarital
affairs start at these functions, to whether or not fruitcake is an appropriate
dessert, respondents were very enthusiastic in describing the most appalling
things they have ever witnessed at holiday office parties. (89% said fruitcake
is NOT an appropriate dessert, "why can't we get rid of those things,
then?" says Party411.com Party Girl and founder Sherri Foxman. "They
make better doorstops than food, but no one will admit it!")
Eighty-five percent believed that spouses and/or significant others should be
invited to the office holiday party, which is a good sign, since 78% said that
extramarital affairs do not begin at the office. Respondents were split over
whether Christmas caroling contests by department and gift exchanges are a good
idea.
The most appalling events witnessed include: three guys mooning a fellow
employee (maybe alcohol isn't such a good idea), a secretary kissing a married
co-worker in front of the co-worker's wife, a woman removing her top on the
dance floor, the boss handing out bonus checks and asking recipients to tell the
audience the check amount and last, but not least, the ever-popular tying a knot
with tongue in a maraschino cherry stem.
