"Conventional wisdom would have placed Tribeca Grill among the
footnotes in restaurant history, just another celebrity-owned eatery.
Good thing Drew Nieporent doesn't listen to conventional wisdom. If he
did, he might have passed up actor Robert DeNiro's interest in
converting an old warehouse in a decidedly unfashionable New York
neighborhood into an energetic gathering place. Instead, eight years
later, Nieporent and DeNiro, along with Chef Don Pintabona and General
Manager Martin Shapiro, can take well-earned delight in having proved
the skeptics wrong. The restaurant may have outgrown its role as THE
