The Pirates of Halloween! Shiver me timbers ...it's a Pirate Themed Halloween
Ahoy, me Hearties! Weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen, we are headed off to plan a Pirate Halloween Party! With all of the pirate decorations and party supplies available, we are sure to have a swashbuckling good time! So grab your cutlass, this Halloween means a trip down to Davy Jones' Locker...
Pirate Invitations for Halloween
If you are feeling ambitious you can make your own invitation. Think about drawing a treasure map to your house. This wouldn't be too hard to do and the whole family can get involved. Just make sure the clues aren't too difficult! Draw it, and then take it to a local Kinko's or print shop to be printed on tan paper (or parchment if they will do it inexpensively). If you really want to impress everyone you can mail your invites in these mailable bottles with sand. The are meant for luau and beach parties, but you can easily leave out the included lei. Add in some tiny skeleton parts and it just screams pirate!
There are also several nice pirate party invitations. Just fill in your party information and mail. Simple!
Pirate Theme Party for Halloween - Decorations and Party Supplies
Up the Gangplank (The Entrance)
At the door, put out giant
treasure chests
with
pirate hats,
Since it is Halloween you don't want to forget the Jack o'lanterns! Carve them up with a pirate twist; a toothy smile and an eye patch over one triangle eye will do the trick. Or carve three pumpkins to read Yo-Ho-Ho and use them on your front steps.
Down in Davy Jones' Locker (Indoor Decorations)
Beware of Pirates party tape is perfect for decorating doorways and ceilings. Hang a few pirate cascade columns from the ceiling as well. Hang up a pirate Halloween banner over the mantle or a blank wall. For a creepy decoration add bleeding skull candles on side tables or the mantle. Add a skull here and there, and maybe even some empty bottles with the word RUM on them. (Don't forget those XXs you see in the cartoons).
Colorful parrots can be tied onto banisters or the shoulders of your guests. A few more pirate flags on a stick can be used to decorate potted plants, or hang them wherever you need a little more scallywag flair. Transform any large wall into a pirate haven with a pirate scene kit, which includes everything from an island hideaway, pirate ships, and even the pirates themselves!
Pirates can be fun, or they can be scary. How you decorate should depend on your guest list. Are you inviting young children who will be frightened of the more gruesome decorations? Then stick with the decorations above. Or is your guest list hearty enough to handle a party worthy of the title "scourge of the seven seas"? Then you should check out these scary pirate Halloween decorations and party supplies:
Grub in the Galley (Setting the Table)
Place several pirate hats with bouquets of pirate skull and crossbones balloons coming out of them down the middle of the table. Scatter skeleton parts table sprinkles, plastic gold coins and pirate telescopes around the bases as additional decoration.
Make silverware bundles using black disposable cutlery, pirate bandanas as napkins, and skull and bone beads as napkin rings. Set each place with a pirate goblet or a pirate beer mug as a finishing touch.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum... (The Bar)
On the floor you can place an inflatable pirate ship cooler filled with water and beer that have personalized pirate bottle labels.
Since rum was the downfall of many a pirate crew it should be the main feature of your bar. Grog, the traditional pirate drink, is nothing more than watered-down rum. You don't have to go for authenticity here, but you can serve the rum up in a way that keeps with the pirate theme. Place a treasure chest with beaded skull and crossbones shot glass necklaces inside. Everyone will be singing "Fifteen men on a dead man's chest, Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" in no time!
Pirate Activities for Halloween
Pirate Halloween parties are the perfect time for scavenger hunts. Organize one for around the house or around the neighborhood, either way everyone is bound to have a great time. Draw your lists up to look like treasure maps. Smashing a pirate piñata is always a good time.
You can also organize a costume contest. Have write their favorite on a scrap of paper and place it in a pirate hat. Near the end of the party, tally the votes and award the winner a Halloween trophy.
