It's almost upon us. And even though most people don't actually have a "party" on Thanksgiving, whether you know it or not, a lot of people do have a leftovers party on the Friday night following!

It's a really great idea. A friend of mine, Fran, has had a leftovers party on the Friday after Thanksgiving every year for the past 20 years. Not only does she serve her leftovers, but she allows her guests to bring their leftovers creating an incredible "food-for-all!"

INVITATION:

Get creative. Find a turkey graphic like the one here...and make yourself an inexpensive postcard (5 x 8). On the front, a nice colorful turkey! On the back, in the message space...your invitation (see sample).

Invitation

Easy and fun.

DECORATIONS:

On your door, put a raffia and muslin scarecrow, available from your local craft store...too cute.

Fill Pilgrim hats with snacks like potato chips, Chex Mix, pretzels and whatever.

In the center of your buffet, put this fabulous turkey decoration (all you need is a pumpkin!). Or, if you want a sophisticated centerpiece and not something fun (and cheap), make a cornucopia with fruit, leaves and a fabulous "cornucopia-shaped" basket.

Having friends from work as well as family and others? Try nametags. Using silly but fun iridescent Thanksgiving stickers added to a "hello" tag stays with the theme.

ACTIVITY:

A Thanksgiving trivia contest. I don't know about you, but I have forgotten almost everything I learned about Thanksgiving except that there were some pilgrims and American Indians at a big table and there was a meal of some sort. So this could be fun AND educational.

Plus, imagine the fun you'll have coming up with it!
