Halloween chocolate novelties

I love this holiday! I get to play dress up. Be who I could never be before. Act out because I have a mask on my face. Do silly things. The only sad part is, as an adult...I can't "Trick or Treat." Bummer. I loved dumping that bag on the carpet and picking out the chocolate stuff.

Don't know what to do this year? The Party Girl comes to the rescue with fun ideas that are budget conscious and guaranteed to make your friends say, "That was the best Halloween EVER!" or your money back. What? This is free advice?...Oops, I almost forgot. So don't give me any lip...just read, do and have a fantastic party.

HALLOW BE HALLOWEEN!

Where

At home, in a party room, in a tent (if you live in a climate where weather permits), or even in an old building, a friend's warehouse or empty garage!

When

October 31st or the nearest weekend evening.

Halloween Invitations

The Party Girl thinks Party411’s Creations for You has the best selection of Halloween invitations available online.  We personalize them, the colors are great, and you have time to do other things.  But there are other options.

You can buy some fairly creative invites at your local party or card store, or you can do them yourself. Download the graphic from this site and use that! Typeset it with two up on letter size (that way you can get two invitations out of each sheet). What should it say? Make it simple, don't reinvent the wheel.

HALLOW BE HALLOWEEN!

What A Halloween Party
When [October 31] at 9 p.m.
Where Witch way do you go...?
Your address
Why We'll be goblin' all sorts of goodies,
and you'd be outta your skull not to attend!
RSVP Soon, or we'll send the grim reaper!

Halloween Decorations

We’ve put together a great selection of fun and different Halloween decorations at Halloween Decorating411.  Remember you’re most effective decoration is yourself!  Picking a fabulous costume is important.

What to wear

If you want to choose between thousands of costumes take some time to visit www.buycostumes.com.  There are some fun (and some sexy) costumes for the hostess in 2007.  Of course the host also should wear a new for 2007 costume.   I know you want to have the coolest costume of all but keep in mind your duties will make it tough to wear certain costumes.  Pick something that leaves your hands free and doesn’t limit your vision.

I know many party planners who go with a mask or wig (I’m thinking of using the V for Vendetta Mask) or just make excellent use of some Halloween makeup.

Outside entry

Along your driveway, put Lighted Gargoyle Sidewalk Stakes. Light up your stair railings with Spooky Eyes luminaries. At the entrance to your driveway, how about a Airblown Skull and Spiders?

And if you have a tree in your front yard? Then you'll for sure want to hang a great ghost. Don't forget a spotlight.

Inside entry

As people enter, have a large canister of "animal noses" available for them to wear (just in case they didn't come in costume--I'm one of those). As well, you may want to give them a Halloween flashlight (less than a $1 apiece plus batteries) that has either a pumpkin or skull face--a blast (from MG Novelty). Hang bats and spiders with webs on fishing wire from the ceiling at different levels in the entryway.

This is a good place to hang a custom banner or one of our inexpensive, but very cool Scene Setters.

Tables

Centerpieces can be Halloween balloons tied off a pumpkin with orange and black crepe paper streamers instead of ribbon. Make your life easier with a Halloween Decorating Kit from Shindigz.

Special candy for the tables is also available--Devils Dentures, a clear plastic jar that contains a full set of chocolate teeth, the ghoulish kind--green teeth with black gums--filled with mouth-watering milk chocolate; white chocolate pretzel knots packaged with two foil-wrapped spiders in a clear cello bag decorated with spider webs and black raffia; novelty pops--bats, spiders, ghosts, eyeballs and skeletons--on a stick; shish kabobs--tricks on a stick--colorful gum drops, taffy, gummi worms--a tower of treats ( from Adams Place).

Buffets

Great buffet accessories are available including a Smoking Cauldron, Pirate GobletsHalloween Candelabra to a Witch Cauldron Cooler to make your table scary.  For the complete selection.

Paper Goods

Fabulous paper goods are available from MakesParties. Whether you like giant pumpkins or witches and ghosts, the colors are fabulous and the graphics are too. Over ten different patterns to choose from and each comes with matching cups, napkins, banners, vinyl window decorations, stickers, loot bags and more...so you can stay with your theme.

Miscellaneous

Let's not forget the bathroom. Turn out the lights, fill the room with glow-in-the-dark insects, skeletons and skulls. Then, from the ceiling hang a 55" grim reaper.

Activities

Pumpkin decorating contests using pumpkin sticker decorations (and whatever else you provide). These kits are inexpensive and fun.  For more Halloween activities.
