Halloween House Party!

HALLOW BE HALLOWEEN!

I love this holiday! I get to play dress up. Be who I could never be before. Act out because I have a mask on my face. Do silly things. The only sad part is, as an adult...I can't "Trick or Treat." Bummer. I loved dumping that bag on the carpet and picking out the chocolate stuff.

I also love to see what my friends will wear.  Couples costumes are great fun. 

Don't know what to do this year? The Party Girl comes to the rescue with fun ideas that are budget conscious and guaranteed to make your friends say, "That was the best Halloween EVER!" or your money back. What? This is free advice?...Oops, I almost forgot. So don't give me any lip...just read, do and have a fantastic party.

Halloween Invitations

The Party Girl thinks Party411’s Creations for You has a great selection of Halloween invitations.  We personalize them, the colors are great, and you have time to do other things.  But there are other options.

You can buy some fairly creative invites at your local party or card store, or you can do them yourself. Typeset it with two up on letter size (that way you can get two invitations out of each sheet). What should it say? Make it simple, don't reinvent the wheel.

What to wear

If you want to look great, take some time and look through  our selection of thousands of costumes.  There are some fun (and some sexy) costumes for the hostess in 2008.  Of course the host also should wear a new for 2008 costume.   I know you want to have the coolest costume of all but keep in mind your duties will make it tough to wear certain costumes.  Pick something that leaves your hands free and doesn’t limit your vision.

I know many people who go with a mask or wig (I’m thinking of using the Barack Obama mask) or just make excellent use of some Halloween makeup.

We’ve put together a great selection of fun and different Halloween decorations at Halloween Decorating411.  Remember you’re most effective decoration is yourself!  Picking a fabulous costume is important.

Outside Entry Halloween Decorations and Party Supplies

Along your driveway, put eyeball light up lawn stakes. Light up your trees with spooky flashing eyeballs.

At the entrance to your driveway, how about a 8' inflatable witch with a grave globe or another great giant inflatable?  I love them!

If you'd like to get the kids involved, let them help you make ghosts to hang from the trees.  Get small white garbage bags and fill them with paper of leaves.  Tie them off at the "neck" and add a sting to hang with - cute and easy.  You can also get pumpkin theme garbage bags for all of your leaves.  The kids will love filling them and you'll get a clean year out of the deal!

Also, greet guests with a lifesize cutout of you or a special friend dressed as a witch or mummy. (Or use the photo op and let them be the witch or mummy!)

Halloween Decorations for Inside

As people enter, have a large canister of "animal noses" available for them to wear (just in case they didn't come in costume--I'm one of those). As well, you may want to give them a Halloween flashlight (less than a $1 apiece plus batteries) that has either a pumpkin or skull face--a blast. You can find these at any drug store.

Hang bats and spiders with webs on fishing wire from the ceiling at different levels in the entryway.

This is a good place to hang an inexpensive, but very cool scene setter.

Halloween Table Decorations

Centerpieces can be as simple as carved pumpkins.  Next to your pumpkins, have a glass bowl filled with floating eyeball candles. Or, the Party Crasher table cover is hilarious.

If you want to get a bit more crafty, try this:  Fill 3 jars with water.  Put cauliflower in one, cooked spaghetti in another (with red food coloring) and small onions in another.  Label them brains, intestines and eyeballs.  Yum.

You know I'm all about making life easier.  So, use paper goods at your party.  There are fabulous paper good designs available for Halloween. Whether you like giant pumpkins or witches and ghosts, the colors are fabulous and the graphics are too. Lots of patterns to choose from and each comes with matching cups, napkins, banners, vinyl window decorations, stickers, loot bags and more...so you can stay with your theme.

Special candy for the tables is also available--Devils Dentures, a clear plastic jar that contains a full set of chocolate teeth, the ghoulish kind--green teeth with black gums--filled with mouth-watering milk chocolate; white chocolate pretzel knots packaged with two foil-wrapped spiders in a clear cello bag decorated with spider webs and black raffia; novelty pops--bats, spiders, ghosts, eyeballs and skeletons--on a stick; shish kabobs--tricks on a stick--colorful gum drops, taffy, gummi worms--a tower of treats.
