Here’s the basics for several GREAT parties…
Winter Wonderland
Large penguin props, polar
bears and ice floats , snowflakes, icicles and corrugated paper with snowflakes to cover doors and walls are all available and can make your living room into a virtual winter wonderland or North Pole. Add pinecone candles, alpine trees, ice garland and more for a "chilly" Christmas but this time in the warmth of your own home.
Snowflakes
are a perfect compliment to a Winter Wonderland theme. Whether you use tissue snowflakes
(hang them in classrooms, hallways, or over your banquet table), 3-D snowflake
centerpieces, or snowflake Lights (drape these intricate plastic lights around banisters or
porches), you really can create a winter wonderland.
Set your table with frosted flute glasses, penquin
spreaders
and Winter Wonderland table decorations . Add snowball candles and tree votive lanterns and luminaries for a complete look.
Arctic Funtoos (temporary tattoos) are also fun to decorate your guests. You may want to have a lighted reindeer headband around and some reindeer antlers for some great pictures (straight from the North Pole).
Gingerbread Christmas
Just the smell of gingerbread makes people nostalgic and happy. And who doesn’t just die for a gingerbread cookie at Christmas (or ten)?
Outside, put gingerbread men and women mixed with carolers to greet your guests or decorate your porch with a gingerbread house so everyone knows what your holiday theme is this year before they step foot in the hallway. Shindigz has some great gingerbread room decorations
On your mantel, your tree, from the ceiling—in fact, everywhere you look (even the lav), have gingerbread cut-outs, garland and lights.
On the table, use a gingerbread man centerpiece--this little corrugated man measures 11" high x 8" wide--and will be a sweet addition, no?! Or use gingerbread floating candles at either end instead of a centerpiece since many a holiday dinner table is very very crowded. Check out these gingerbread man decorations .
When people leave, have a gingerbread cookie ready for them, cello wrapped, but personalized with their name in frosting, thanking them for coming!
Candy Cane Christmas
Feed your family and your friends’ Christmas sweet tooth with this great party. This scrumptious décor will make your Christmas party unforgettable. Visions of candy canes will dance in your head when you catch a glimpse of the peppermint decorations that are available.
Welcome your guests with lighted candy canes lighted candy canes in your yard. Put some great large candy canes

Off the mantel, hang beaded candy canes that sparkle in the light. From the ceiling in your foyer, hang real candy canes that guests can take with them when they leave—in red, green and now in loads of other colors. And don’t forget some candy canes for your tree.
Set the table with candy canes in mind. Candy cane or peppermint votive candles, a candy cane wrapped in each napkin with candy cane garland wrapped around, a candy cane centerpiece all on top of a red and white table cloth to pull through the theme.
Build a photo opportunity right in your den with an 8’x6’ Candy Cane Arch. The sturdy cardboard structure comes with a selection of peppermint stepping-stones. There are gates (they do not swing, but can be positioned open or closed). Assembly required.
Finally, hide candy canes here there and everywhere and make it fun for everyone—whether kids or adults. Have a contest—so many candy canes collected gets a special prize. Just something a little different than just serving dinner and drinks—if you know what I mean!
Christmas Candyland
No matter what your theme, you may want to add "candy" as part of it. Decorate with a peppermint drop walkway, giant Christmas candies, a gingerbread house covered with candy, a poinsettia pole and more to create a candy wonderland which is just as good or better than a winter wonderland.
Everyone should get a personalized peppermint button when they enter (theirs to keep—not eat—of course). And when they look around, they should see candy (or candy-like items such as peppermint pillar candles) everywhere—on the tree, on the tables, anywhere and everywhere.
For an activity, you may want to let everyone make their own gingerbread house. Kits are available at Bed, Bath and Beyond and other local stores!
