We are combining our annual company Christmas party with a retirement recognition. What we have thus far is:

This year will be special in that we will be celebrating the years of service that John Doe served with ABC Company. The retirement celebration will begin at 6:30

Do you have any suggestions for re-wording? Big problem is that we have to be out of XYZ Hotel by 8 PM. How do we say this without sounding "cheap"?

Any help would be appreciated
