I'm also planning a stag and doe for my girlfriend (whom I am the maid of honor for), and I need ideas as well! Cecily, the idea may sound strange because it's not from your area... It's like how a bat mitzvah may not make any sense to someone whom isn't Jewish. They aren't what you make them out to be, they actually help out the bride and groom and allow them (and their families) to get more into the spirit of wedding celebration. Hope this clears things up.
