It really all depends on what kind of person your dad is and his interests. You should revolve the party around something he likes or do a simple theme with everything his favorite color. Before deciding anything, you should just think of his interests and maybe get an idea or theme like that. There was this Hollywood idea I've come upon that I think is really good, but maybe not what you are looking for. Hope I helped.
