What a cute idea for a party! It's been THIRTY years?!?!?! Oh, my! Times really DOES fly! LOL I love your menu! I have seen freeze-dried ice cream. It comes in pellets but is actually ice cream. There are stands in malls that have it, although you might find it in a supermarket. (To be honest, I've never looked there.) However, I know the freeze-dried ice cream was made for the astronauts (at least recent ones). I assume you will be using mylar balloon stars and holographic star balloons as part of your decor. For giveaways, you might want to see if you can get some of those pens you can use to write even if you're upside down. (Remember the Seinfeld episode?) For a high-tech look, why not serve everything in aluminum containers or bowls lined with mylar sheets. If you have a Nature Store, planeterium, or school store near you, how about getting some star charts to hang up or close-up photos of the moon. Some stores that sell camping equipment also sell a host of freeze dried meals or meals that come out in tubes. Wasn't freeze-dried coffee also invented for the astronauts? If you want, tape pictures of earth as seen from the moon to the outside of your windows. That way when people look out, it's as if they are looking down at Planet Earth. If you have a TV & VCR, why not rent the movie, The Right Stuff or From the Earth to the Moon, and show it - with or without the sound. If you know anyone who has a tilt table or gravity shoes (often used by people with bad backs to help them realign their spine) see if you can borrow it, so your guests get a feeling of what it's like to be upside down. If you get a chance to go to a couple of thrift stores, maybe you can find some old model rockets to set on the table. If you can get your hands on a couple of strobe lights, at some point in the party, turn off the lights and turn on the strobes and give everyone the feeling of blasting off. Some stores have sound effects tapes (some libraries too), so look to see if you can get one and set it on your stereo really loud for the full effect. In any event, I bet your friends will have a "blast"! Good luck and enjoy! Phyllis Cambria
