Well, it sort of depends on where you are holding the scavenger contest to begin with that will help determine what items you can ask people to bring back.

However, assuming it's in a neighborhood, you might try some of these. (I'm thinking about what's within a five minute drive of my house and what might be open late.)

Local newspaper
Slurpee(or similar drink) from a local convenience store
Particular type of beer or soda can
Type of leaf or flower that is plentiful in your area
Grocery bag from an area supermarket
Postage stamp
Teller slip from an ATM or bank
Imprinted napkin from a fast food chain
Movie ticket stub
Box from a pizza parlor
An advertisement for a certain store or a store flyer
An application from a video store
Credit card app from a department or chain store
