Here's some things I've asked for in Mall Crawl hunts: Matches from a certain restaurant, a pamphlet from the information center, the telephone number from the phone by a certain store, the price of a certain colored item in a certain store's window, a stirer stick from McDonald's, the total number of public phones in the mall, the name of a security guard (or a cleaner at the Food Court), a price list (or frequent customer card) from a hairdresser, a prize out of a certain coin-operated machine, etc.

Another way to do it is to give everyone $5 and give a prize to the person who buys the most separate purchases. (candy pieces don't count... you can make them show reciepts to show the got them from an actual store) You can give a second prize to the person who buys the best single item.
