An actual old straw hat would be a great topper. Check Good Will or Salvation Army. A tree skirt made from sewn together red bandanas would be cute. Lots of cinnamon sticks tied with raffia would be another special touch. A skirt from burlap or a saddle blanket would also look really good. Decorate around the bottom with straw bales from craft stores and minature wagon wheels and actual pairs of boots. Clean the boots up and spray with acrylic to add a shine. You could even paint the boots and then spray for a holiday finish. Good luck :0)
