I am also having a boy/girl dance party. I'm 13 and will be turning 14. I had a great idea for my party, and I'd be happy to share it. So here is how it goes... The theme is sort of like a crime scene /police car chase crash. It will be held in our community clubhouse meant for parties,babyshowers,meetings,ec. But this could take place in any cleared out room that is big enough for a good time. The outside walls of the clubhouse will be covered in CAUTION tape. My dad will stand outside the door dressed as a policeman. In order for the kids to get in they must have thier search warrant ready. In order to get dancing they must have this,(it will have been with their invitation). My dad will undo the chain and let them in once they have done so. Inside their will be a VERY realistic and artistic crashed police car(which my friends and I willl make). On top of the car will be a police beacon(one of those lights that is on real police cars). ecordins from police station will be coming from the car. A smoke machine will be placed underneath the car, giving the effect of a soon to be fire. the smoke will also spread throughout the dance floor. My kid brother will be a criminal with black and white striped clothes and handcuffs.As Soon as the DJ starts blaring the tunes, my brother will start dancing around. The walls will be decorated with flashlights, handcuff,and nets. then the good part happens. A disco ball drops from the ceiling , the smoke machine really starts smokin',all sortsof colord rotating lights turn on, and stobe lights make the world seem very slow. there will be a table in the corner with junk food(sodas,chips,candy,etc.)Half way during the dance, we will have best dancer awards, a raffle, and just random prizes. If you thought all that was cool, listen to this... After the party about six of my friends will be picked up by a limo and taken downtown to go see a midnight movie. My mom will then take us back home for some more movies, games, calling boys, all the things that are included in a sleepover. I saved up big time for this party, so it may take all little extra work, but I'm tellin' ya... PEOPLE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THIS PARTY FOR MONTHS!!!!!!!!
