Mazel Tov! We were in Canada while your son's Bar Mitzvah took place. We went to shul there. The Bat Mitzvah girl chanted with her face to the sanctuary and I thought of you. We take for granted that things will be the same, but as you said, there are differences. I will add, just differences, not good, not bad.
