Like you, we are in the planning stages of our daughter's April Bat Mitzvah. Like you, our oldest son's Bar Mitzvah was 4 days after Sept. 11. I can remember working on the centerpieces, trying to make them "just right" when what I saw on TV changed our lives forever. We live on Long Island and my husband lost 2 friends from childhood that day (they were brothers). While the last minute touches were done in a haze those days just before the Bar Mitzvah, the day was beautiful. The only trouble we encountered was that the yarmulke order was stuck in lower Manhattan and there was no UPS or mail service from there. The owner of the company took our order to his home in Brooklyn and my sister drove there to pick them up.

My father-in-law passed away last August and my mom passed away in October. I am so grateful for the memories, the video, and the photographs we have.

I know that this time around we will have our share of stressful moments. I also know that we will cherish each and every moment leading up to and including our daughter's wonderful day. Try to enjoy it all!
