My dh and I have been invited to a Bat Mitzvah. We have never been to one and have no idea as to what the ceremony will consist of. This is a morning ceremony with a 12:30pm reception to follow at a very prestigeous club. Will the guest be asked to participate at the temple? What is the appropriate attire for a morning/noon bat mitzvah? Will the guests be asked to participate in anything at the reception or is it simply where a meal will be served? We do not know the young lady very well and are mostly aquainted with the father of the girl through business so we are not sure what is an appropriate gift or is the custom to give money. Sorry for so many quesions but am not familiar with this kind of celebration yet don't want to appear out of place by not knowing the proper ediquette for this celebration.
