I've been writing Candlelighting ceremony poems professionally for 20 years, and there are several excellent alternatives I've recommended when candles are not allowed. One is to give out flowers....another, more fun, is to do a Puzzle Picture! Your favorite shot of your child is blown up and then mounted on a board, then cut into 13 or 14 puzzle pieces. Honorees come up and each put a puzzle piece in place. The result is your smiling child! One other possibility is to enlarge a map of Israel, and have your honorees come up and place a cut-out of a tree on the map, signifying that your child is planting a tree in their honor in Israel. (several agencies do this; ask your temple.) I hope this is helpful to you! Mazel Tov!
