It has been my experience that you do provide a meal for the hired entertainement. However, they normally would not normally help themselves to hors d'ouvres. Speak to the caterer at your venue. Normally, during a break such as candlelighting, speeches, etc., they sit at a table in the kitchen or at a back corner of the hall. Most caterers provide their meals at a reduced cost.

You can also call the entertainers and simply ask them if they will want a meal during the evening so that you can inform the caterer. Sometimes they prefer not to have an entire meal. That way, you won't pay for something you don't need.
