We have a very small family, and a close but small circle of friends. I do not want to expand the list by adding business associates who have never even met my child. As well, my daughter goes to a school with very few Jewish children. Lots of these kids have never been or don't even know what a Bat Mitzvah is. I must tell you, I had the same worries before my oldest's party. Kids weren't sending in RSVP's. I was actually in tears the week before worried that the room would be empty. It turned out just fine! A concern you may have is sending the invitations so early that it might get forgotten when the time comes. I have to send them earlier than I would like, because of a 2 week March Break at my daughter's school. I don't want invitations to get lost in the pile up while people are away on vacation. Waiting until afterwards for her mid-April party is too late, so I'm sending them out about 7 weeks before. I'm trying to think of some kind of "reminder" or excuse to contact the guests (especially the kids) prior to the party to ensure they remember, without sounding "desperate". Any ideas?
