Our rabbi also won't permit non-Jews on the bima. My sister in-law understands, and my brother will either come up by himself or with his 2 daughters (from his first marriage---their mother is Jewish). As far as tipping, my DJ is the owner of the company and stated he does not accept tips. He suggested $50 per person for the others he brings. He also said he would rather they be tipped then me feed them, and that is what most people do. Claimed they are adults and can work 5 hours w/o eating. Not sure how I feel about that, but he's the boss. The caterer suggested $100 for his maitre D.
