Hope ...

I think it's great that you want to send a tip to the DJ after the fact and in fact I bet that with a nice note saying what you said, it would be even MORE appreciated than had you just handed it to him automatically at the event. I have no idea how much the general tip would be because I'm not even sure how much they charge these days (our musical DJ is going to be a friend of ours who is a club DJ and my DH is going to do the emcee part running the kids games, etc.). I'm going to go out on a limb and say anywhere between 10-20 percent, which is generally the "tip" range for most service industries, I think ... (OTOH, if Djs are charging $1000 for their night, I do think sending $100 might be a lot ... any other thoughts out there???)

Thanks for letting me know how the "Prayer for Our Country" goes ... I am pretty sure that our shul does not do that one as part of the regular service and I will add (and if I offend anyone here by saying this I apologize profusely but hey, I tend to speak my mind if you hadn't noticed LOL) that I think we'll take a pass on that one ... a prayer for peace, yes. A prayer for goodness and mercy and love, yes. But a prayer for certain members of our government?
I'd like to leave politics out of it.
