You neglected to offer your budget, whether you are going to do it yourself or hire an event company.
But here goes -
Rent some truss and use silver flexible vent tubing (available at menards, home depot, etc) around to create a futuristic millieu. This can be done on a smaller scale i.e. centerpieces or larger as support decor around the room.

Assuming the room is darkened, use flood lights around the room to accent the decor pieces and walls.

A DJ Sign with the honoree's name in lights is a must.
