Re: candlelighting ceremony at partyPosted by Phyllis Cambria, The Special Events Group of South Florida on July 16, 1999 at 09:15:41: In Reply to: candlelighting ceremony at party posted by faye on July 15, 1999 at 11:56:24: Hi Faye, One of the nicer candlelighting ceremonies I saw used a video where photos of the friend with or without the child, were flashed, via a video, while the child talked about that person as they made their way up to the floor to light the candle. Music was incorporated with the video and an image of the two of them was frozen on the screen and then a live image of the candlelighting took place (which was really nice for the folks in the back who couldn't see the action as closely). This obviously required coordination by the videographer and the video operator, but it was very effective. The audience loved it and kept alternating between laughter and tears...all in all, a very successful approach. Another approach is good for a sports team. Everyone who was going to be honored is given a sports shirt - like a basketball shirt - with a number on it - representing the order in which they are called up. They are then introduced as a member of the child's "team" who helped them turn into the person they are that day. Hope that helps. Good luck! Phyllis Cambria
