I dont think thats a terrible Idea. Although usually men dont do this, but I think it's great that you want to be involved. Planning a baby shower is a huge deal and requires lots of miner and major details. If you can handle it, thats great, but perhaps you could ask for a little help from a female friend or so. I think this is a great idea and more men should want to be involved in their childs coming. I give you props!
