If you are not contributing financially to this shower, then you should keep quiet. If a mother wants to host a party for her daughter (whether or not it isn't her only grandchild), then she should. Most of the people at the shower will probably know her situation anyway. Let people decide whether they want to attend or not. That shouldn't be your decision. You can sit quietly in the corner, but you should show support. She'll remember you for it.
