Re: Restaurant baby showerPosted by Heather on February 12, 2002 at 08:44:33: In Reply to: Restaurant baby shower posted by Carla on February 06, 2002 at 03:20:22: The question is, does the restaurant expect you to order food? Is there a minimum order for having your Shower there? Most guests will assume, since the Shower is in a restaurant, that food will be served. If you really don't want to serve food, then you need to say on the invitation "please join us for cake and beverages at ...". Otherwise, you will be expected to serve food. If money/time/hassle is your concern with handing out menus, then try this. 1. If there is a buffet available, then no menus are neccessary, and you'll know the cost ahead of time. 2. Don't give out menus, instead, preselect the food to be served. If they have it, you can even do large plates of appetizers for everyone to share (sharing food will get the guests talking and mingling with each other) 3. Limit menu options to 2 or 3 choices, that way you'll know the maximum cost right up front. (And still no menus are necessary because the waiters can ask each person if they want choice one or two). Remember, the restaurant is used to handling large groups and the only real hassle of having a menu will be the time it takes to order and eat. (And possibly the cost.) Happy Baby Showering!
