25th wedding anniversary ... surprise or not?Posted by aubrey on December 25, 2004 at 04:44:51:
So my brother and I want to plan an anniversary party for our parents, and can't decide whether or not it should be a surprise. I know it would be great to have it be a surprise, but my parents are so nosy they would probably figure it out anyway. But if they know about it, of course they would want to somehow help out with preparation, which i don't want them to have to worry about. From those of you who have had experience with this sort of thing, is there one or the other that seems to be preferred or most common? And keep in mind that this thing is going to be big! Both my parents come from large familes (7 or 8 kids each, and they all have kids too!) and my parents also have tons of friends who simply must be invited. Family members have already offered to pitch in and help with costs and preparation, so I was just wanting to find out what some of you might have to say on the topic.
