I agree with Wendy. I've never been to a party where I had to buy tickets for drinks and I would probably think it was tacky and laugh about it with my friends. I would definitely not buy drinks if I knew the hostess was trying to make money from it. I have been to parties with cash bars, and that is OK, but even then I think it's a tad on the tacky side. I think part of throwing a party is knowing that it will cost some- I would not attempt to make money at it.
