I put together my parent 50th wedding anniv. party and I spent around $250.00. It was an open house. I made all the finger food and I had the bakery make a cake just like my parent's wedding cake. We had a program that consisted of introductions of family members, the guest introducing themselves and how they knew my parents. My dad was in the Marines so we surprised my parents when a Captain of the Marine Corps came and presented my folks with a congratulatory note from the commadant. My daughter talked about events that happened in the 1940's. My sister read their newspaper wedding announcement. My parents talked about their 50 years together.
When I sent out the invitations I included a sheet of paper (which had gold balloons on it) and a self stamped addressed envelope asking people to write about a memory they had about my parents and to include a picture. With those I put a memory album together. It also included a note from the President and an email correspondence that had meaning to them. They now are able to also put their pictures from the party in it. After the program we took pictures as they cut the cake. I finished cutting it and my daughters served it to our guest.
We had the most wonderful time. I hope all goes well as you plan yours.
